Make up wants to be like iPhone

In order to reach women with their gadgets, tech companies have for years desperately been trying to take inspiration from traditional women’s products such as fashion and make up. We have seen a fair share of lip stick shaped mobile phones, bling bling pink lap tops and enough flowers spread across electronics to give us an allergic reaction.

Today when shopping for shampoo at my local drugstore, I realized that the tables are now turning. The beauty industry is now copy catting electronics to reach women.

This is yet another piece of evidence that it is not a matter of feminizing gadgets and by that often presenting something more suitable for 12 year old girls and Paris Hilton -than for an adult, design consci0us woman. It is a matter of taking the user seriously by creating the perfect design and functionality match. Then the gadget can be cool enough for women to love and adopt it into their lives. And THEN the beauty industry will start to look at gadgets for new trends instead of the other way around.
