Clothes iron for men

For years reaching women with products traditionally considered masculine has been all about making it pink, small, easy and fun. Cars, mobile phones, tools you name it and there is a cute “lady version”. Now electronic giant Philips is turning this gender twist around and introducing the masculine clothes iron. This simple steam machine now comes across as a robust, heavy-duty tool in a serious black color. Looking more like something out of a sci fi flick that out of a closet.

This laundry killer maschine is called GC449 and it offers more power, more steam and more performance and like a new hammer drill, the iron comes in a solid case. Which really is kind of silly considering that there is no reason why men should need this more than women in an ironing situation. And since a clothes iron is not the kind of tool you bring on a boys night out it most likely won’t be the kind of gadget the alfa male buys to position himself in the pack. So why get it?

This product could actually be one of the many buying decisions made by women. The “tool” might end up in the shopping bag of a mother who wants to buy it for her son, when he is off to college or the wife who is sick of ironing her husbands shirts.

Are men really just the serious buyers always looking for a power tool or new gadgets and women all about the fun and forever searching after a girlie fashion item?
